Let’s celebrate Fareham’s 50 years as a Borough

Fareham has officially been a Borough for 50 years in 2024 and we want you all to get involved to help celebrate!

You may have seen the updated Live Love Local banner flags with a golden colour scheme around the Borough to remind people to support their local businesses. The Council is also planning a golden twist to some of its annual community events and activities this year, so that residents of all ages can come together and celebrate. Head to www.fareham.gov.uk/events for more info.

We know that our community will want to help celebrate this Golden Anniversary, so we need help! Do you have any cool, interesting or funny photos taken in Fareham over the last 50 years? A special gallery is being created on the Council’s website to showcase these moments in time, highlight the people of Fareham, and celebrate our amazing community spirit.

You can upload your pictures to Facebook, tagging @FarehamBC; or email them to publicity@fareham.gov.uk. Simply include details of what the photograph is showing and any other interesting information.

You can also take physical photographs to the Civic Offices to be scanned. Please remember to include your name and contact details, so physical photos can be returned to you. We have to be really careful about privacy, so please don’t include photos of people unless you have, or are able to, give us their permission.

There will be plenty more to come in 2024, so watch this space! You can find out more about Fareham’s history from the last 50 years as well as plans for 2024 at www.fareham.gov.uk/farehamat50
