Fareham in Bloom returns for 2024
It’s that time of year again when those of us with green fingers are being asked to take part in Fareham in Bloom.
The gardening competition has been bringing the local community together for more than 25 years and it’s hoped this year will be no different.
Sponsored by St Margaret’s Nurseries and Ecosupport, the competition asks people to send in photos of their gardens, veg patch, hanging baskets or anything else they have grown, to be in with a chance of winning a prize
In celebration of the Borough’s 50th anniversary, a new category called the Mayor’s Gold Award has been added, which will see the Mayor choose the best overall entry across all categories.
There are six categories to enter
- Best Garden | A garden of any size, front or back
Businesses and schools | Shop fronts, pubs, cafes, restaurants, businesses, schools, children’s nurseries
Something Small | Hanging baskets, window boxes, plotted plants, small unusual garden features, small area of open space
Community | An area of open space within a road/street that the community looks after, community centres, sheltered housing grounds, care/retirement homes, outdoor communal areas
Sustainable Garden | Planting to encourage wildlife, grow your own fruit and vegetables, allotments, recycling materials
Mayor’s Gold Award | To commemorate the Council’s 50th anniversary, the Mayor will choose their best overall entry across all categories
