Join us for a guided walk at Holly Hill Woodland Park
Over the past year we’ve had some really great conversations with local residents about Holly Hill Woodland Park as part of our National Lottery Heritage Fund application. Now, we’re excited to take that engagement a step further by inviting you to pull on your walking shoes and join our countryside team for a relaxed ramble through this much‑loved nature reserve.
These guided walkabouts are a chance to slow down, enjoy the views and really get to know Holly Hill a little better. As we wander through the woodland, we’ll chat about the issues currently facing the park, point out some of its hidden heritage features, and highlight the wildlife that calls Holly Hill home – from ancient trees to the smaller creatures you might easily miss on a casual stroll.
Just as importantly, we’ll be sharing our vision for the future of the park through the Holly Hill Rediscovered project. If our funding bid is successful, the project will bring carefully planned restoration work alongside a programme of community activities, learning opportunities and events designed to help more people enjoy and connect with Holly Hill. During the walk there’ll be plenty of opportunities to ask questions and find out more about what’s being proposed.
What to expect on the day
These are informal, friendly walks led by our countryside team, and they’re very much about conversation as well as exploration. Holly Hill is a wonderfully varied landscape, which does mean there are some hills and relatively steep slopes along the way. We recommend wearing suitable footwear and dressing appropriately for the weather conditions on the day.
To make sure as many people as possible can take part, the walk on 16 July will be a simplified, more accessible route which should be suitable for most. If you would like to discuss whether this walk is right for you, please contact us onn 01329 236100.
