The Dovecote Eatery

The Dovecote Eatery

The Dovecote Eatery is a fabulous, relaxed café set over two floors in a historic building, serving breakfast and lunch, including takeaways, every day from 9am to 4pm.

A real hidden gem, it’s tucked away in the Cams Hall Business Centre on the vast Cams Hall Estate with impressive views of the golf course and is worth hunting out (book in advance though – it’s that good!).

We headed over there for a Saturday breakfast, and it didn’t disappoint.

Piping hot latte and a full English with excellent quality produce cooked really well was all served in quirky war-time style tin trays and mugs.

The menu includes cakes, proper milkshakes and smoothies, an array of specialist hot chocolates, delicious salads, toasted sourdough with smashed avo, hot filled baguettes, topped muffins, loaded fries, and old favourites like mac n cheese. There are milk alternatives like oat, soya, almond or coconut and a special gluten-free menu, too.

Sound tasty? Check out the full menu here!

Attached to the building is a marquee, which was busy even when we visited in January, and there’s outdoor seating for the warmer months.

The surrounding Cams Estate has stunning walks and the Dovecote would make the perfect set-you-up or refuel spot to make your day.

The café’s website has a gallery of heritage images of the site, mostly from Winchester Records Office, but they’re asking for information from anyone who may be interested in the history of the area or might have insider knowledge about Cams. Check out their website for more information!
