24 Aug Café at Zero 5
Café at Zero 5 at Solent Airport
A great cafe with views over Solent Airport
Cafe Five Zero is the perfect spot for anyone, from grandads to toddlers.
The cafe is situated in the control tower of Solent Airport, has outside seating and looks out over the airfield with all its comings and goings. Planes take off and land right in front of you, and if you’re lucky you might even see the historic Spifire with its unique and evocative sound. If you see the big red rescue helicopter, give it a salute and wish the crew the best of luck on their mission.
The cafe itself is not only in a great location, it serves great food and drinks too. In the school holidays, children can enjoy a lunch box for £3.50 – including a sandwich, packet of Pom Bears, a raisin pack, mini cookies and a choice of squash.
Our local family, @the_little_adventure_boys visited recently and took some pictures for us all. Their verdict? “Imagine your little one tucking into their lunch when a real-life aeroplane comes flying overhead and lands right in front of them! The food here is so good too.”
There’s a free car park for visitors to the café which opens 9am-6pm, seven days a week. Dogs are also welcome on leads and the beach is just a stone’s throw away (pardon the pun!)
